Non-profits partner with the United States Marine Corps Reserve in northern Texas to offer this service. Parents need to apply at a local social service center or online. There may be unwrapped toys for a boy or girl, and Christmas goods for infants or teenagers too. Get books, tablets, electronics, video games,  clothes, computers, dolls, trucks, legos and other Christmas gifts as well. They will offer referrals to soup kitchen or Thanksgiving/Christmas meal sites. Many churches will also try to pass out to free gift baskets or other items to children or the elderly.

Salvation Army programs also help low income families during the back to school shopping season as well as holiday seasons. They do this in multiple ways, most of which are driven by donations, volunteers, and the Red Kettle money raising campaign. The main parts of these assistance programs are:

• Free school supplies, chrome books, uniforms and toiletries for students from K-12.
• The Salvation Army also operates the Angel Tree Christmas toys, gift, and present program as well as participates in Adopt a Family.
• Free Thanksgiving turkey dinners with the toppings are served as well.

This holiday season, H‑E‑B will take its annual Feast of Sharing dinner into homes across Texas and Mexico. H‑E‑B's Feast of Sharing will donate more than 340,000 meals to hunger relief organizations and food banks in Texas and Mexico during November and December.

There are a number of churches and charities that receive toys from the Marine Corps and their partners. They can then be provided to qualified low income families and their children for free. Games, books, electronics, tablets, video games, clothes and more may be offered in Dallas. A formal application process is in place. There are several of these non-profit agencies in the region. They offer a number of assistance programs and social services to low income, unemployed, and poor. The main holiday program may be Cowboy Santas. This will provide qualified applicants with toys, meals, books and games for their children.
