Seniors' Pets Assistance NetworkThe mission of the Seniors Pet Assistance Network (SPAN) is to serve the needs of Dallas Countylow-income seniors, 67 years and older with basic veterinary care and pet food. We accomplish this by: Providing financial assistance for basic veterinary care which is defined as annual shots, preventive heart worm and flea medication. Other veterinary services will be considered on a case by case basis and are contingent on available funds. Pet food provided by the Aunt Louise's Pet Food Pantry.
The Senior SourceSince 1961, The Senior Source has served greater Dallas as the go-to nonprofit for aging services. They assist older adults at all income levels from the most active to the very frail. People come to us for help with job searches, nursing home advocacy, money management, volunteer opportunities and counseling on any aging issue. The Senior Source is a United Way service provider.
Moorland Family YMCAIf you're looking to stay fit and healthy long past retirement, come work out with YMCA Active Older Adults! Several Dallas area YMCA branches sponsor special programs for active adults 55 and older. Some branches offer group classes like Low-impact Aerobics, Senior Power Hour, Basic Cardio, and Senior Pilates. Others offer joint conditioning and Sit and Be Fit classes. Some branches also offer special swim classes that are easy on the joints and muscles! Several Dallas YMCA branches provide opportunities for seniors to socialize as well. Monthly pot luck luncheons may include dominos, cards, or bingo. Other branches host day trips, line dancing evenings and craft classes.
